KTSM News – LCPD seeks suspect in carjacking, kidnapping, crash incident

Posted on October 24, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a carjacking, kidnapping and hit-and-run incident that happened Thursday morning, Oct. 24.

LCPD said at approximately 8 a.m. on Oct. 24, a female victim was sitting inside her vehicle while parked in a desert area when a Hispanic male forcibly entered the vehicle, kidnapping the victim and drove away with the victim still inside the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a “dark-complected” Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, thin build and with tattoos on both arms, according to LCPD.

LCPD said a distinctive tattoo of the word “Payaso” or “Pay” is located on the suspect’s right hand. He was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and spoke only in Spanish.

Shortly after the carjacking, the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of North Roadrunner Parkway and Santo Domingo Avenue, according to LCPD.

LCPD said the suspect fled the scene on foot, taking several of the victim’s backpacks with him.

Las Cruces Police urge anyone with information on the suspect to contact the department at (575) 528-4200.
