Posted on October 26, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Crime Stoppers of El Paso and the El Paso Police Department want your help in finding whoever is responsible for some “jugging” cases in El Paso.

This is this week’s “Crime of the Week,” as publicized by Crime Stoppers.

Jugging refers to a crime in which people are observed withdrawing cash from a bank or other financial institution and are then followed and robbed.

According to Crime Stoppers, vehicles have been burglarized after leaving banking institutions around El Paso.

At about 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, a victim withdrew money at the Chase Bank on Lee Trevino.  The victim was followed to the Walmart on Gateway West.

There, the suspects broke out the driver’s side window of the victim’s car and stole the money that had been withdrawn, Crime Stoppers said.

The suspects were driving a red Hyundai Kona.  One suspect was recorded at a nearby convenience store before the burglary.

There have been other similar cases where victims have been followed after leaving financial institutions, and their vehicles are burglarized, Crime Stoppers said.

You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you may qualify for a cash reward.
