KTSM News – Election Day almost here: Where to vote if you haven’t

Posted on November 4, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — After all the campaign mailers, TV ads and candidate forums, Election Day is almost here.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5 and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both El Paso and Doña Ana counties.

In El Paso County, ballots for the general election will include the El Paso County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4, Anthony ISD, Canutillo ISD, Fabens ISD, Clint ISD, the Town of Anthony, the City of El Paso, the City of Socorro, El Paso County and the County Hospital District and federal and state races.

Key races include El Paso mayor, six City Council seats in El Paso, district attorney, El Paso County sheriff, and five bond initiatives totaling $323.8 million for El Paso County and another $396.6 million in bonds for the University Medical Center, among others. Anthony Independent School District also has a ballot measure on its tax rate.

The City of El Paso is also asking voters whether to cancel the City’s authority to issue the remaining $128.45 million in general obligation bonds for a multipurpose performing arts and entertainment facility for Downtown El Paso.

In Doña Ana County, a couple of races stand out. Voters will be deciding on a new district attorney — Democrat Fernando Macias, who ousted incumbent Gerald Byers during the primary, and Republican Michael Cain.

In New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Gabe Vasquez is facing off with Republican Yvette Herrell, who previously held the seat.

In El Paso County, 182,607 people cast their ballots in early voting. That represented 34.95 percent of registered voters.

In Doña Ana County, 48,862 people voted during the early voting period.

On Election Day, Dona Ana County residents will have their final opportunity to cast their ballots at any of the 42 voting centers throughout Doña Ana County. For a complete list of voting locations, click here.

In El Paso County, residents can vote at any of the 116 Election Day voting centers. You can find a list by clicking here.
