KTSM News – Carrie Hamblen apparent winner in NM State Senate race District 38, other Doña Ana County races

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Incumbent Carrie Hamblen, a Democrat, is the apparent winner against Samantha R. Barncastle Salopek, a Republican, in the New Mexico State senator race in District 38 for the Doña Ana County, according to unofficial results released early Wednesday morning, Nov. 6.

Hamblen led with 51 percent or 8,465 votes, leaving Barncastle Salopek with 49 percent or 8,276 votes.

Other results for Doña Ana County races included the following, according to unofficial results:

State senator in District 36

Democrat and incumbent Jeff Steinborn is the apparent winner against Republican David H. Tofsted with 56 percent or 10,975 votes, leaving Tofsted with 44 percent or 8,719.

State rep. in District 32

Republican and incumbent Jenifer M. Jones is the apparent winner against Democrat Linda S. Alvarez with 61 percent or 6,025 votes, leaving Alvarez with 39 percent or 3,797 votes.

State rep. in District 34

Democrat and incumbent Raymundo Lara is the apparent winner against Republican Larry M. Sedillo with 58 percent or 5,006 votes, leaving Sedillo with 42 percent or 3,692 votes.

State rep. in District 36

Democrat and incumbent Nathan P. Small is the apparent winner against Republican Kimberly A. Skaggs with 52 percent or 7,259 votes, leaving Skaggs with 48 percent or 6,792 votes.

State rep. in District 38

Republican Rebecca Dow is the apparent winner against incumbent Tara Jaramillo, a Democrat, with 52 percent or 6,026 votes, leaving Jaramillo with 48 percent or 5,627 votes.

State rep. in District 53

Democrat Sarah Angelina Silva is the apparent winner against Republican Elizabeth Lee Winterrowd with 51 percent or 4,784 votes, leaving Winterrowd with 49 percent or 4,651 votes.

County clerk

Democrat Amanda Lopez Askin is the apparent winner against Republican Cheryl De Young with 56 percent or 44,460 votes, leaving Young with 44 percent or 34,856.

County commissioner by commissioner district in District 2

Democrat Gloria Gameros is the apparent winner against Republican Lorraine Limon McCullough with 60 percent or 6,392 votes, leaving McCullough with 40 percent or 4,208 votes.

County commissioner by commissioner district in District 4

Democrat Irma Susana Chaparro is the apparent winner against Republican Stacie M. Durham with 52 percent or 10,200 votes, leaving Durham with 48 percent or 9,256 votes.
