EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso will serve as the host for a big tourism conference and expo in 2026, Destination El Paso announced.
The City of El Paso and Destination El Paso will team up to host the 2026 TxDOT’s Texas Travel Counselors Conference in conjunction with the 2026 Texas Travel Alliance Travel Expo.
“This marks a significant win for El Paso, which was last selected to host the prestigious event in 2018. The conference and expo are key events in the Texas tourism industry, inviting tourism professionals, travel media and industry leaders from across the state and the region,” Destination El Paso said in a news release.
The Texas Travel Counselors Conference, organized by the Texas Department of Transportation, is an annual event focused on promoting travel and tourism throughout the state.
The event “brings together tourism and transportation professionals, providing a platform for key discussions on infrastructure, marketing and initiatives that help drive tourism growth in Texas,” Destination El Paso said in its news release.
“It is an opportunity to share innovative ideas, strategies and best practices that strengthen the tourism economy in Texas. In conjunction with the conference, the Texas Travel Expo offers attendees an immersive experience showcasing the diverse travel experiences available across the Lone Star State. As part of the Expo, Texas destinations, attractions and hospitality businesses come together to present the best of Texas tourism,” Destination El Paso said.
“This selection is a testament to the tremendous progress our City has made as a leading travel destination in Texas. We look forward to welcoming our tourism colleagues and showcasing how El Paso is most deserving of its recent accolades as the Stella Award’s Best Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) and bronze winner for Best Convention Center in the Southwest region and Best DMO in Texas, recognized by the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus,” said Jose Garcia, president and CEO of Destination El Paso.
