Posted on November 11, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A train derailment is impacting traffic on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11 in the Vado and Anthony area of southern Doña Ana County, the New Mexico Department of Transportation reports.

NMDOT said New Mexico Highway 478 is closed near milepost 10 because of a train derailment along NM 189. The detour will be on Holguin Road and NM 227, also known as Vado Drive.

NM 189 is closed from NM 478 to Waterfront Street, NMDOT said. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, obey posted signs and watch for emergency personnel and equipment.
