EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Department of State Health Services will be giving a presentation on their oral rabies vaccination program on Thursday, Nov. 21, as it is suspected El Paso County will be the first Texas county to be exposed to the disease, the County said.
The County says the presentation will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse in room 303. The presentation will also be held online.
“This is the first time that far west Texas will be included in the program because there has been a variant of rabies identified in New Mexico and it is suspected El Paso County will be the first Texas County exposed to the disease,” the County said.
The oral rabies vaccination program is expected to commence in January 2025.
