EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso will be the host for a national conference of educators, artists and dance enthusiasts dedicated to the preservation and study of Mexican folk dance next summer.
The 2025 Asociación Nacional de Grupos Folklóricos (ANGF) Conference will take place July 12-19, 2025 at the El Paso Convention Center, the City of El Paso and Destination El Paso announced.
“This gathering brings together artists, educators and dance enthusiasts from across the country to celebrate and preserve the diverse cultural heritage of indigenous and mestizo communities through dance, music and the visual arts,” a news release stated.
The ANGF conference is expected to have more than 300 attendees, generate more than 600 room nights in local hotels and contribute more than $500,000 in economic impact to El Paso, according to the news release.
“We chose El Paso, Texas, as the site for the 2025 ANGF conference because it embodies the vibrant intersection of culture, innovation and history. With its unique cross-border heritage, dynamic economy, rich history and warm hospitality, El Paso has much to offer which enticed us to host our 51st conference in such a welcoming city,” ANGF President Ted Ruiz said.
“El Paso’s own cultural heritage makes our city a fitting backdrop for this event, and we look forward to sharing our traditions, landscapes and stories with ANGF members and attendees,” said Jose Garcia, president and CEO of Destination El Paso.
