EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A hearing scheduled for this week in the Walmart massacre case has been postponed.
District Court Judge Sam Medrano issued an order Monday, Dec. 9, delaying the hearing in the Walmart shooting case that was scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 11-12 at the request of the defense team.
The hearing was to determine if Walmart shooter Patrick Crusius had his constitutional rights violated by the prosecution, which the defense team has alleged in several court filings.
Crusius pleaded guilty to federal charges back in July 2023 and was sentenced to 90 consecutive life sentences. Crusius murdered 23 people at the Cielo Vista Walmart store on Aug. 3, 2019 and wounded more than 20 others.
The state’s case, which is seeking the death penalty against Crusius, has long been delayed.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2025.
