CBP says the seizure was made after 11 a.m. and the drugs were hidden in a SUV driven by a 47-year-old woman, who was a citizen of Mexico.
Presidio is about 250 miles southeast of El Paso.
CBP officers noted anomalies in the appearance of the SUV after the vehicle was selected for a secondary exam.
Bundles were spotted inside the fuel tank, which was then removed. Officers then extracted 63 methamphetamine-filled bundles.
CBP officers arrested the woman. She was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents to face federal charges associated with the failed smuggling attempt.
