KTSM News – 9-Day Forecast: Windy Christmas before slight cooldown

Posted on December 23, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Happy holidays, El Paso. Christmas is only two days away and warmer-than-average temperatures are in store.

Tuesday will feature a high in the upper 60s and a low in the upper 30s. Come Wednesday, Christmas Day, similar temperatures are in store along with strong winds. Winds will gain speed in the afternoon, ranging 15-20 mph. Winds could gust up to 30 mph. Those winds and gusts will continue throughout the night until Thursday morning.

Thursday will be much calmer and slightly cooler. A cold front will drop our area into the low 60s and bring more cloud cover. This cold front will last throughout Saturday, producing temperatures closer to seasonal averages. Lows will range from the mid- to upper 30s.

We’ll see a gradual warm-up on Sunday, with high temperatures near 70 until Tuesday. Another weak cooldown is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, we will see a high in the mid-60s and a low around 37. New Year’s Day will be even cooler with a high in the lower 60s with little to no chance of precipitation.
