KTSM News – Doña Ana County Crisis Triage Center to reopen in January

Posted on December 30, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Doña Ana County Crisis Triage Center will be re-opening its doors on Wednesday, Jan. 1, under the new operation of Summit Behavioral Health, according to a press release from Doña Ana County.

The County says the center, located at 1850 B Copper Loop Drive, will open at 7 a.m. and will offer “immediate and comprehensive care for adults 18 and over who are experiencing mental health or substance use crises.”

The center’s mission is to stabilize and connect guests to the next level of care. The County says care is available at any time as the center is open 24/7 all year round and insurance is not required to receive care.

Services at the center include peer engagement, clinical intervention, care coordination, nursing assessment, medical administration, and transportation, according to the County.

“The CTC will again be available for us, our family and friends when we are having a bad day and need some help, and instead of emergency rooms for more urgent situations,” Jamie Michael, Director of Doña Ana County’s Health and Human Services Department said.

The County says the center’s operations will be funded through a combination of Medicaid reimbursements, County general funds, and support from the healthcare assistance fund.

“During the initial six-month startup phase, Doña Ana County will cover 100% of operating costs, totaling $1,401,838,” the County said.

For more information on the center, (575)-489-4440. The County says a website will go live soon with updates and resources.
