SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Two Mexican nationals are part of a group injured during a New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans, according to Mexico’s Foreign Relations office.
In that incident, 15 people were killed when an American citizen, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, plowed his truck into revelers along Bourbon Street.
Thirty others were injured including the two from Mexico.
The FBI has said an ISIS flag was found in Bahar Jabbar’s truck along with weapons and explosive devices.
ISIS, which stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, is a terrorist group based in those countries.
Bahar Jabbar was killed by police after getting into a shootout with officers.
Mexico’s Foreign Relations office put out a message on the X social media platform announcing that two people from Mexico had been injured in the attack.
On Wednesday, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the ambush pledging “solidarity with victims’ families and the people of the United States.”
It’s not clear if the two people from Mexico injured in the attack were tourists or lived in the area.
