Border Report – San Diego Border Patrol agents locate missing child in alleged abduction case

Posted on January 6, 2025

CAMPO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Border Patrol agents with the San Diego Sector stopped a driver last Wednesday who had an active warrant issued by Texas law enforcement and was wanted for an alleged child abduction, authorities said Monday.

Last Wednesday, around 9 a.m., agents assigned to the Campo Station stopped an SUV traveling west on Interstate 8 near Buckman Springs Road while they were out on patrol.

The driver, a 36-year-old woman, was accompanied by another adult female and a 6-year-old girl, CBP said.

Camp Pendleton, Naval Base San Diego heighten gate security, but why?

The agents confirmed the occupants’ identities through law enforcement databases and learned the driver had an active warrant for interference with child custody involving the 6-year-old in the SUV. The warrant was issued by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.

Following this discovery, the driver and child were taken to a local Border Patrol station, CBP said.

The United States Marshals Service was contacted and took custody of the driver. Meanwhile, the child was placed with Child Protective Services until she is reunited with her family, authorities said.

To report suspicious activity to the U.S. Border Patrol, contact 911 or the San Diego Sector at 619-498-9900.
