EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texas are partnering with El Paso high schools to officially launch the Region 19 Female Flag Football Pilot and Championship on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The kickoff event begins at 6 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the Radisson Hotel at 1770 Airway Blvd.
The event will feature a double-blind drawing to determine team affiliations for the league’s season, according to the news release by the El Paso Sports Commission.
In addition, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent is scheduled to address the community to mark the milestone in female sports in El Paso, according to the news release.
The Region 19 Female Flag Football Pilot Championship, partnered with the El Paso Sports Commission and Zebra Sports, includes eight school districts, representing 39 teams.
According to the El Paso Sports Commission, the season will run from April 29 through May 16 and the championship tournament is set for May 19-22.
