KTSM News – EPPD: 3 arrested for following man from bank to his home to rob him

Posted on January 29, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Three men were arrested on Friday, Jan. 24, after allegedly following a 78-year-old man from the bank to his home in Central El Paso to steal the money he had withdrawn, El Paso Police said.

El Paso Police said Marquez Carroll, 27, Cerell Williams, 24, and Tony Bruce, 24, were arrested and charged with theft from a person engaging in organized crime.

On Jan. 24, officers responded to a residence located at the 2900 block of Wheeling on a reported theft, El Paso Police said.

El Paso Police said officers met with a 78-year-old victim where they learned he had gone to the bank at the 2300 block of N. Mesa to make a deposit.

Upon making the deposit, the victim withdrew $100, placed the money in a bag, and returned to his vehicle, El Paso Police said.

El Paso Police said the victim drove up to his residence and was approached by a man, later identified as Carroll, who ran up to him and snatched the money bag as the victim was walking up to his front door.

Carroll ran away with the money and fled in a dark-colored vehicle that Williams and Bruce occupied, El Paso Police said.

El Paso Police said that through the investigation, the three men were located in the same vehicle at another bank in Central El Paso.

All three men were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. Carroll is facing a $30,000 bond, Williams a $20,000 bond, and Bruce a $5,000 bond, El Paso Police said.
