EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The jury trial for Former New Mexico State men’s basketball player Deshawndre Washington has been rescheduled to April 14, 2025, according to New Mexico court records.
Before it was rescheduled to April, Washington’s jury trial was scheduled to begin Feb. 2025.
The trial in April is scheduled to be a five-day trial.
Washington is one of three former players on the 2022-23 New Mexico State men’s basketball team that were charged with multiple felony sex crimes after the completion of a months-long investigation by the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office.
Late last year, Bradley and Aiken Jr. accepted plea deals. Both plea deals involve Bradley and Aiken Jr. testifying against Washington.
Washington is facing 15 charges. Seven counts of false imprisonment, five counts of Criminal Sexual Contact in the Fourth Degree (Aided or Abetted by Another), one count of Criminal Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree (Aided or Abetted by Another), one count of Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Sexual Contact in the Fourth Degree (Aided by Another), and one count of conspiracy to commit false imprisonment.
The charges against Washington carry a sentence of up to 27 years in prison.
This is the second time Washington’s jury trial has been pushed to a later date.
