Perez has served Canyon Hills since 2022 as an assistant principal and plays “a key role in implementing instructional and social-emotional learning initiatives,” EPISD said.

Additionally, El Paso ISD said Perez “has been a thought partner in the campus redesign efforts and has worked closely with educators and families to support student achievement.”

“I am honored and excited to continue serving the Canyon Hills community in this new role,” Perez said. “My goal is to foster a supportive and dynamic learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.”

According to EPISD, before joining Canyon Hills, Perez served in leadership and teaching positions at Guillen Middle School, Bowie High School and Andress High School.

Perez has a master’s degree in educational administration and a bachelor’s in English and American literature from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

In addition, Perez is fluent in English and Spanish, “a skill that allows her to effectively communicate and build relationships with the diverse community she serves,” EPISD said.

“As principal, Perez will continue to support Canyon Hills Middle School’s redesign model, which
focuses on instructional excellence, extended learning opportunities, and strong community
partnerships. She is dedicated to ensuring that Canyon Hills remains a school where students are
challenged, inspired, and prepared for future success,” EPISD said.
