KTSM News – Two more record days before chilly gusts and dust — Your 9-Day Forecast

Posted on February 6, 2025

Our week of record temperatures rolls along nicely today with a high of 81. That breaks the old high of 77 set in 1963, 2009, and 2023. “But wait! There’s more!” We have the potential to add two (if not three) more records before the giant zone of high pressure breaks down, ushering in much cold air next week. Sunday’s record is 78 set in 2017.

TONIGHT:   The skies will be clear, and the winds will be breezy to windy at times on the east slopes.  The west winds will range from 10-25 mph with occasional gusts on the east slopes.  The winds will slowly die down early evening.  The low will drop to 46 at the airport, 41 in the valley.

FORECAST:    Friday will likely be another record day, the fifth record this week.  Enjoy the sunshine with warm afternoon winds.  The SW winds will range from 10-25 mph (no dust) with those stronger gusts on the east slopes of the mountains. Friday’s high: 82.  Saturday will be sunny with record warmth and a high of 81.  The SW winds will range from 10-20 mph (no dust).  Sunday will be partly cloudy with moderate winds.  The big zone of high pressure starts to break down on Sunday, so the high will be 76, just shy of the record. Monday will be partly cloudy with very gusty winds and a high of 72. We could see a slight dusty haze by Monday afternoon.  Tuesday will be partly to mostly cloudy with gusty winds and slight dusty haze by afternoon.  Tuesday’s high: 69.  Wednesday will remind us it is still winter with a high of 63.  Look for partly cloudy skies with chilly winds. Thursday should be the coldest day with a high of 59.
