EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with evading arrest and stealing a vehicle after a traffic stop conducted on Friday, Feb. 7, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) said in a news release.
EPCSO said deputies conducted a traffic stop on Feb. 7, at the 7100 block of La Junta Drive.
Deputies conducted a wanted persons check and were advised that the driver, Travis McNellis, 32, had an outstanding criminal warrant from the El Paso Police Department for evading arrest/detention, EPCSO said.
EPCSO said that after further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen by the Las Cruces Police Department.
McNellis was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the evading arrest warrant and an additional charge for the unauthorized use of motor vehicles with a total bond of $20,000, EPCSO said.
