EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — All Sun Metro fixed and Brio routes will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule starting Wednesday, Feb. 12, because of the fire at its Operations Center.
The temporary change to the operating schedule will remain in effect for one week until Wednesday, Feb. 19 and is necessary because of the impact of the fire, Sun Metro said.
Tuesday, a massive fire rocked Sun Metro’s Operations Center in East El Paso, 10151 Montana Ave.
Seven people were injured. Four were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and three refused transport for further treatment.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the Sun Metro team members, who were injured in the incident at the Transit Operations Center. We are keeping them and their families in our thoughts,” City Manager Dionne Mack said. “As we work through this challenging situation, riders may experience service impacts, including delays on some routes. We appreciate our riders’ patience and understanding during this difficult period. We also are deeply grateful to our first responders for their swift action and support.”
Riders are encouraged to visit SunMetro.net to plan their trips under the temporarily reduced service.
