CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A group of people gathered across the street from Castle Park High School in Chula Vista Tuesday afternoon to protest against ICE and mass deportation.
The rally, organized by the group Association of Raza Educators, took place across from the campus in the 1400 block of Hilltop Drive.
It was just one of several similar rallies that happened throughout San Diego County in recent weeks to protest against President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans.
Participants, including teachers and students of the high school, could be seen holding signs saying “Education Not Deportation.”
A post on the organization’s Instagram page about the rally said the event was meant “to demand that schools and district leaders rise up in defense of our communities in the face of ICE/migra terror.”
In recent weeks, ICE has reported making arrests in major cities like Philadelphia, Seattle and Sacramento.
An estimated 1.8 million undocumented immigrants living in California could be impacted by the Trump administration’s plan to close the border.
