EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — With baseball and softball season around the corner, Las Cruces Public Schools is reminding the community of the “clear bag policy” for all district indoor and outdoor event venues.
According to the school district, the policy was enacted last fall to assist in moving security lines more fluidly and enhancing public safety.
The policy does not apply to student-athletes who have district-issued team bags, LCPS said.
All district venues, including the Field of Dreams baseball and softball complexes, will be following the policy that is modeled after the guidelines at New Mexico State University.
The following guidelines are:
- Bags that are clear, plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches
- A 1-gallon clear plastic zipper-style freezer bag
- Small, non-clear clutch bags, approximately the size of your hand (the bag cannot be larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches), with or without a handle or strap
- Exceptions will be made for medically necessary supplies in bags appropriate to the size of the medical supplies
Prohibited items include but are not limited to:
- Purses larger than a clutch bag
- Coolers
- Briefcases
- Backpacks
- Drawstring bags
- Luggage of any kind
- Computer or camera bags (unless accompanied by a media or press pass)
- Any bag larger than the approved sizes mentioned above
Furthermore, guests may bring one approved clear bag or one small bag per person. Cameras and binoculars may be carried into the venues as long as they are not in a bag or case, the school district said.
According to the district, seat cushions and blankets are still allowed. Diaper bags are also allowed under the policy, provided guests enter the stadium or field with a child.
All items are still subjected to inspection.
In addition, all ticket sales are digital and cash sales are not permitted at any LCPS venue, the district said.
Fans can scan QR codes at the gate to purchase tickets.
