EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Camino Real Utility Authority says all four of its arsenic treatment facilities are now compliant with the New Mexico Environment Department.
According to CRRUA, NMED confirmed on Monday, Feb. 17 that all four of its arsenic treatment plants are compliant based on the state agency’s running annual average.
“To achieve NMED compliance based on the RAA, arsenic test results must average at or below the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maximum contaminate level (MCL) of 10 parts per billion (ppb) for four straight quarters of a year,” CRRUA said in a news release.
“This is a huge accomplishment because it demonstrates to our customers that CRRUA has consistently provided consumable water that meets both NMED and EPA standards for the required one-year test period,” CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby said.
The Santa Teresa Community, Border Entry, and Sunland Park arsenic treatment plants achieved NMED compliance following NMED’s quarterly testing in October 2024, the utility said.
The Santa Teresa Industrial AFT became compliant when it passed NMED’s first quarter 2025 arsenic tests from samples taken on Jan. 28, the utility added.
CRRUA provides water and wastewater service to Sunland Park and Santa Teresa.
