EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man from Mexico was recently extradited from Mexico City to El Paso on criminal charges related to his alleged involvement in human smuggling operations through the El Paso corridor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Osvaldo Coronel-Fernandez, also known as “Omero” of Ciudad Juarez, is being charged with one count of aiding and abetting bringing in migrants without authorization for financial gain and one count of conspiracy to encourage and induce migrants to come into the U.S. for financial gain.
Coronel-Fernandez was indicted by a federal grand jury in El Paso on Nov. 20, 2019, for offenses that allegedly occurred between July 2015 and August 2016, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
