The American Society of Magazine Editors announced Thursday that Texas Monthly’s “The 50 Best Tacos in Texas” and “The Billionaire Who Runs Texas” features are finalists for the organization’s sixtieth annual National Magazine Awards, one of the highest honors in the magazine industry. ASME also recognized “The 50 Best Tacos in Texas” in its sixth annual awards for Design, Photography and Illustration.In 2024, taco editor José R. Ralat set out to find the best tacos in the state. After traveling nearly 14,000 miles and visiting hundreds of taquerias, restaurants, and food trucks, he developed the fifty best tacos list.
