KTSM News – Las Cruces woman killed in crash after running stop sign, police say

Posted on February 20, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A woman who was killed in a rollover crash last week in Las Cruces has been identified, Las Cruces Police said in a press release.

Police say Sheila Nava, 24, of Las Cruces was killed in a rollover crash last Thursday afternoon, Feb. 13, at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street.

Nava was traveling south on Hermosa Street in an SUV when it was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Griggs Avenue.

Traffic investigators believe Nava ran a stop sign before the crash occurred, police say.

Investigators also determined Nava was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected as the SUV rolled over. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured and no charges or traffic citations are expected to be filed, police said.
