EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Residents near Acacia and Ocotillo roads in Las Cruces may experience a water outage from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the City of Las Cruces said.
The City said the outage will enable the City’s Water Department to replace three 2-inch water valves and a 2-inch flushing hydrant at the intersection.
Adjacent areas also may be affected by this outage, the City said. This work is being completed in City Council District 2, represented by Councilor Bill Mattice, the City added.
The City said residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in their houses for five minutes, the City said.
If the discoloration remains, you can call the City at (575) 526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is (575) 541-2182.
