EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man from Jamaica with multiple felonies was recently arrested at the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry on charges related to his alleged illegal re-entry into the United States, according to the United States Attorney’s Office from the Western District of Texas.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dwight Donovan Moulton, 43, presented a Texas ID to a Customs and Border Protection officer and claimed that he was a U.S. citizen traveling to El Paso after visiting his girlfriend in Mexico.
The officer saw facial discrepancies between Moulton and the ID, and escorted Moulton to the Passport Control Secondary office for further inspection, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Moulton then revealed his actual identity and admitted to being a citizen of Jamaica. He also admitted to finding the ID he had presented and intended to use it to travel to El Paso, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Moulton had been previously removed from Houston and sent to Jamaica in 2005. His criminal record includes three felonies, including a firearm offense and sale of a controlled substance, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Moulton faces up to 10 years in prison. CBP is investigating the case.
