WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The United States Border Patrol arrested a man who was allegedly attempting to smuggle migrants.
According to a news release from the U.S. Border Patrol, at approximately 8 p.m. on Feb. 24, agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Fiat near McColl Road in Hidalgo.
When the vehicle failed to yield, they released a vehicle immobilization device that caused the car to come to a complete stop.
Agents found two women and two men, who were Mexican nationals, inside the vehicle.
Agents say the man was a Mexican citizen with DACA status. The suspect will be charged with bringing in and harboring migrants, the release added.
The suspect’s DACA status can be revoked for criminal activity.
