SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The United States Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection took 21 migrants into custody off the coast of San Diego this week.
The U.S. Coast Guard reports a 25-foot boat with 21 people aboard who are believed to be migrants was intercepted in the Pacific Ocean 20 miles off the coast of Point Loma in San Diego on Friday.
The Coast Guard Cutter Haddock, a Coast Guard Sector San Diego crew, Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour, and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations patrol aircraft intercepted the boat.
The 21 people were transferred from the Coast Guard to U.S. Border Patrol custody.
