Oh, boy, did we need a break from those winds today! What a gorgeous Wednesday with a high of 71 and light winds. The highest wind speed today was 13 mph. The best part… no dust. During this windy season, it’s important to remember to prep your lawn for Spring. I like to use my electric dethatcher to remove all the dead undergrowth from my Bermuda grass. Use a high nitrogen, NON-weed-n-feed fertilizer, and then water. It looks terrible for a while, but it will turn green and thicken beautifully. TONIGHT: The skies will be partly cloudy overnight, and the winds will be light out of the SE at 5-10 mph. The low will be a mild 47.
FORECAST: KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to the strong winds and blowing dust that will affect the Borderland Thursday through Saturday. Thursday will start out pleasantly but end up with strong winds and dust. A Wind Advisory and a Dust Advisory are posted from 11 AM to 7 PM. The SW winds will gust near 60 mph, and the high will be 78. Friday will be partly cloudy with strong winds and blowing dust. The west winds will gust near 60 mph. Friday’s high: 67. Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a few drops as a cold front blows through. The NW winds will gust near 55 mph, which will cause blowing dust. The high will drop to 59, and the winds will slowly diminish Saturday evening. Sunday will be a beautiful day with a high of 66. The winds will be light and variable. Monday will be sunny and warmer with a high of 76. Tuesday will be partly cloudy with gusty winds and a dusty haze. Tuesday’s high: 79.
