EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Residents along and around East Madrid Avenue in Las Cruces will experience a water outage this week.
The City of Las Cruces said there is an outage planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 along East Madrid Avenue from Mesquite Street to Solano Drive.
Renegade Construction will connect a new waterline to the existing water system, the City of Las Cruces said.
Adjacent areas also may be affected. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 48 hours in advance.
Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits, the City said.
Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the house or business for five minutes.
If the discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at (575) 526-0500 for assistance.
