KTSM News – Pickleball courts in Las Cruces to have ‘intermittent’ closures

Posted on March 15, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The pickleball courts at the East Mesa Public Recreation Center in Las Cruces will experience intermittent closures, beginning Monday, March 17.

The closures are necessary as the Las Cruces Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments begin installing shade structures, the City of Las Cruces said.

The shade structures will cover the pickleball courts. The project is expected to last eight weeks.

The work will require the closure of pickleball courts within designated work areas. Closures are expected to affect one-half of the complex at a time. There may be periods when the entire pickleball complex is temporarily closed for equipment and material mobilization.

The public is asked to follow all project postings and avoid designated work and staging areas.

For more information call the Parks and Recreation Administration Office at (575) 541-2550, TTY 711, or email Cathrine Mathews at cmathews@lascruces.gov.
