El PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Happy Sunday, El Paso! We’re seeing blue skies and calm conditions to close out the weekend, but the relief won’t last long. The National Weather Service has set a high wind and red flag warning for Tuesday due to the return of strong winds.
We are in luck though, because St. Patrick’s Day on Monday will feature a high in the 80s and a low near 55. Winds will be light with minor overcast skies, the perfect way to start the workweek. Our luck expires near 12 p.m. on Tuesday, though, with the high wind warning going into effect as another storm system enters the region.
Tuesday’s high will be near 75 with a low around 40. Winds will start around 15-25 mph before increasing to 30-40 mph. Wind gusts can reach speeds as high as 65 mph and widespread blowing dust will be a major threat for the roadways. Overnight, wind speeds will decrease to 10-20 mph with gusts slightly slowing down to 55 mph.
This wind event will not last long, clearing the way for a cooler and calmer Wednesday. The high will be near 65 and low near 40. Thursday onwards, we see a warming-up trend with temperatures gradually increasing to eventually reach the lower 80s by next Tuesday. Conditions will be mostly sunny, with breezy to light winds for the most part.
