CLOUDCROFT, N.M. (KRQE) – Officials announced that the Gail Fire in Otero County has burned 100 acres. The fire, which is burning east of Cloudcroft, is burning along Highway 82. There is no threat to Cloudcroft.
The Tularosa Basin Regional Dispatch Authority announced evacuations for residents who live between mile markers 31 and 33 on Highway 82 in Mayhill. Cloudcroft High School has been set as an evacuation point.
The Cloudcroft Fire Department said multiple resources from the United States Forest Service and Otero County are working on the fire.
