KTSM News – Dust-free Thursday, showers Friday — Your 9-Day Forecast

We remain under a Weather Authority Alert until 10 PM. A Blowing Dust Advisory is posted until 10 PM, and winds may peak this evening between 6 PM and 9 PM. Peak gust will approach 50 mph, and the dust will not settle until the overnight hours. Now, some good news. I do not expect blowing dust on Thursday. Winds will peak at 25 mph. Here’s your exclusive 9-Hour Forecast:

TONIGHT:  KTSM is extending its Weather Authority Alert to 10 PM due to gusty winds and a dusty haze.  A Blowing Dust Advisory is posted until 10 PM.  The west winds will gust near 50 mph with the strongest gusts on the east slopes.  Winds will diminish overnight, skies will be partly cloudy, and the low will drop to 45.

FORECAST:  Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy and cooler with a high of 65.  Winds will be lighter and not strong enough to produce blowing dust.  Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered light rain showers.  We’ll have a slight chance of isolated (non-severe) t-storms.  Friday’s high: 62. Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers.  The west side will have the strongest winds as a cold front pushes in from the east.  East winds will gust near 40 mph, and the high will be 54.  Sunday will be a beautiful day with a high of 62.  Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, and the winds will be light and variable.  Monday will be sunny and nearly perfect with a high of 75.  Tuesday will be mostly sunny with moderate winds in the afternoon.  With a high of 82, the SW winds will gust near 35 mph.  Wednesday will be sunny and 80.
