Overview: May 3 Uniform Election
Starting April 22, some El Paso County voters can cast their ballots in school board trustee races that will shape the future of education in the region for years to come.
The El Paso and Socorro independent school districts each have four races on the ballot for single-member districts, while San Elizario ISD has three. Anthony ISD has one at-large seat up for election.
The El Paso Community College District has three single-member trustee seats on the ballot.
The only candidate who filed to run against an Ysleta ISD incumbent dropped out of the race, so the district canceled its scheduled election. With no one challenging any of the four incumbents whose seats were up for election this year, they were essentially reelected and will serve another four years.
Also on the ballot: The towns of Anthony and Horizon City and the city of San Elizario have council positions up for election, while the Village of Vinton and the Haciendas Del Norte Water Improvement District have propositions up for vote.
Early voting runs from April 22-29. Election Day is May 3.

Which local elected offices will be on my ballot?
Races in EPCC, EPISD, San Elizario ISD and SISD are single-member trustee district seats, meaning voters can only cast ballots for candidates in certain boundaries within the school district. Anthony ISD has at-large seats.
Single-member districts refer to compact and contiguous areas within the school district boundaries represented by individual trustees. Residents can only vote for candidates within the single-member district in which they live.
An at-large seat represents the entire jurisdiction, such as a school district, and is open to voting by all voters in the jurisdiction.

- Town of Horizon City: Alderman Places Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6
- Village of Vinton
- Proposition A: Reducing the tax rate in the Village of Vinton for the current year from $0.801437 per $100 valuation to $0.688226 per $100 valuation.

Frequently asked questions
How do I register to vote?
Registration deadline for the May uniform election was April 3.
To register to vote in Texas, you must be a citizen of the United States and be 18 years old by Election Day. Registration deadline is Oct. 7. You can print a postage-paid application from the El Paso County Elections Department or pick one up in-person at the county courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio Ave., Suite 315. How do I check if I’m registered to vote?
Check your registration status with the El Paso County Elections Department or the Texas Secretary of State’s Office.
Where and when can I vote in person?
If you’re a registered voter, you can vote at any voting location during early voting and on Election Day – you no longer have to vote at a specific location.
What do I need to vote in person?
You’ll need one of seven acceptable forms of photo ID, which include a Texas driver’s license, U.S. passport book or card, or Texas personal ID card.
Can I vote by mail?
You can vote by mail in Texas if you are age 65 or older on Election Day; are sick or have a disability; are expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day; or are in jail but still eligible to vote. You can also vote by mail if you will be out of El Paso County on Election Day and during the early voting period.
You must apply to receive a mail-in ballot and the El Paso County Elections Department must receive your application by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. More information can be found HERE.
When is my mail-in ballot due?
The Elections Department must receive your mail-in ballot by 7 p.m. Election Day, Saturday, May 3, if the carrier envelope is not postmarked. If the envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day, the Elections Department will accept it through 5 p.m. Monday, May 5.
