EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office is again warning the public to avoid falling for online and telephone scams where the caller impersonates a deputy.
These calls or online encounters are from someone claiming to be a deputy warning the receipient about outstanding warrants, the Sheriff’s Office said.
DASO does not call anyone regarding outstanding warrants, they said.
Also, scammers requesting payments through gift cards, online payment apps and other methods are to be ignored, the Sheriff’s Office said.
