EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly fired off a gun early Monday morning, April 7 in Socorro, according to the Socorro Police Department.
Eric Daniel Meraz Rodriguez, 24, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of unlawful carrying of a weapon and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Rodriguez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a total bond of $165,000.
At 2:40 a.m. on April 7, Socorro Police officers were called to the 100 block of Nevarez Road to a call of shots being fired.
When officers arrived, police met with a woman who said she was driving with her 3-year-old child near North Loop Drive and Nuevo Hueco Tanks Road when a vehicle began following her and she soon heard several shots, according to Socorro Police.
According to police, the woman was concerned for her and her child’s safety and continued home to call law enforcement.
Officers then located the suspect vehicle and driver, who was identified as Rodriguez, and detained him, police said.
According to Socorro Police, Rodriguez had a handgun and narcotics in his possession.
