EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 21-year-old man has been arrested on several charges after he allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted a woman before stealing money from a business in Northeast El Paso, according to El Paso Police.

Hekter Enrique Carreto, 21, was arrested on two counts of aggravated sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated robbery, according to police.

Carreto was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and has a total bond of $5 million.

On Friday evening, March 28, El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit was dispatched to Dyer Street in Northeast El Paso to assist in an investigation where a woman was found unconscious behind a business, according to police.

Police said the woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the initial investigation revealed that a man, later identified as Carreto, entered a business and began to assault a woman “violently.”

During the attack, Carreto sexually assaulted the woman, took money and then dragged the woman outside to the back of the business, according to police.

Carreto then fled the business on foot before officers arrived, according to police.

According to police, detectives identified Carreto as the individual responsible for the attack, and he was later located and arrested without incident.

Investigators are asking the public if anyone has information on the crime and are being asked to contact police at the non-emergency number (915) 832-4400.
