El Paso Matters – Framing Hope: A night to change lives for El Paso children in foster care

Posted on April 14, 2025
By Vanessa G. Leon, Executive Director, Heart Gallery of El Paso

On May 7, 2025, The Heart Gallery of El Paso invites you to Framing Hope, a powerful evening dedicated to helping children in foster care find their forever families.

Held at the La Nube STEAM Discovery Center, this event raises critical funds for professional portraits and ongoing advocacy that give local children their best chance at adoption.

Tickets are on sale now — and your presence can make a lasting impact.

This evening will bring together advocates, philanthropists, and community champions — including members of the Governor’s Commission for Women and a special appearance by the first lady of Texas, Cecilia Abbott. Their presence underscores the importance of this cause and the collective commitment to El Paso’s children.

Right now, dozens of children in El Paso are waiting to be adopted. These are not just numbers — they are teens who want someone to cheer at their graduation, siblings who want to stay together, and children with medical needs who deserve safety and care.

Unlike other adoption campaigns that focus on the broader state, The Heart Gallery of El Paso keeps its lens on our local community, raising awareness for the children waiting right here — and connecting them with loving, permanent homes.

At the heart of our work are portraits — professionally taken images that do more than capture a face; they tell a child’s story. Displayed in galleries and public spaces across El Paso, these photographs shine a light on children who are too often overlooked, reminding our community that every child deserves to be seen, celebrated, and supported.

Adoption is just the beginning. That’s why The Heart Gallery of El Paso, in collaboration with CASA of El Paso, the El Paso Child Guidance Center, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, is investing in post-adoption services.

We help families navigate their new journeys with access to counseling, parenting resources, and enrichment programs — because permanency means more than placement; it means support that lasts.

How you can help

  • Buy tickets to Framing Hope. Celebrate stories of resilience and help us raise funds to continue this vital work.
  • Donate. Every dollar helps us provide portraits, outreach, and support services.
  • Connect us. Know a public space or business that could host a portrait display? Help us expand our reach.

Let’s frame hope — and change lives — together.
