EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested after he crashed his vehicle during an apparent street race over the weekend, Horizon Police said.
Ryan Bradley Marsh, 24, was arrested on Monday, April 14 in Horizon and is facing a charge of reckless driving with a bond of $5,000.
At about 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, a sergeant with the Horizon Police Department was conducting patrol along the 14400 block of Eastlake Boulevard.
The sergeant saw two vehicles traveling westbound at a high rate of speed, traveling side by side and appearing to engage in a street race.
Radar confirmed both vehicles were traveling at 96 mph, nearly twice the posted limit, Horizon Police said.
As the vehicle sped by the patrol unit, the sergeant did a U-turn to conduct a traffic stop.
One of the vehicles made a sharp left turn, lost control, and crashed into a rock wall on Benton Street, Horizon Police said.
The driver, identified as Marsh, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun., Horizon Police said.
