EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the Lower Tom Lea Dog Park project in Central El Paso.
The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at Lower Tom Lea Park, located at 1203 E. Schuster Ave.
The new dog park now features the following amenities and services:
- Two fenced-in recreational areas for small and large dog activities
- New benches, pet waste stations and fountains
- Installation of new sod and irrigation system
“Dog parks are a great place for your furry companions to participate in physical activities and social interaction,” Pablo Caballero, director of Parks and Recreation, said. “They provide an off-leash environment where dogs can safely socialize, play and run in order to increase their overall well-being and help reduce their stress.”
According to the news release by the City of El Paso, the dog park project had an estimated budget of $465,000.
“This new dog park will complement and enhance the many dog-friendly spaces already available throughout the City,” according to the news release.
