EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Diocese of El Paso is celebrating the life of Pope Francis with a memorial Mass this week.
The Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa.
The Mass will be celebrated by El Paso Bishop Mark J. Seitz along with Rev. Anthony C. Celino, auxiliary bishop of El Paso, and other clergy.
This will be an opportunity for the community to unite in mourning and thanksgiving for the life and papacy of Pope Francis, who served as the 266th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Francis died earlier this week at age 88.
“All are welcome to attend,” Seitz said. “We come together to pray for the repose of Pope Francis’ soul and to honor a shepherd who touched countless lives through his humility, compassion, and tireless witness to the Gospel.”
