EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 20-year-old El Paso woman has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a man in a wheelchair in March in East El Paso, El Paso Police said.
Police said they arrested Evany Rangel, 20, on Monday, April 21. She has been charged with collision involving death in connection with a March 23 crash that killed Jesus Flores Garcia, a pedestrian in a wheelchair, police said.
On April 4, officers with the Special Traffic Investigations unit found the vehicle that had fled the scene. Through the investigation, Rangel was identified as the driver. She was arrested and booked into El Paso County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
Back on March 23, police responded to a crash along the 1700 block of Zaragoza involving a pedestrian in a wheelchair.
The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, police said. Garcia, 59, was transported to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
