EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Students at Eastwood High School were evacuated early Tuesday morning, April 29, after a smoke sensor was triggered, according to the Ysleta Independent School District (YISD).
YISD says just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, a smoke sensor was triggered at the school while maintenance staff were clearing dust from the rooftop HVAC units.
As a precaution, the campus was evacuated, and it was later determined that dust had set off the sensor, resulting in a false alarm, YISD said.
“There was no fire or danger to students or staff. The building was cleared for re-entry, and students were allowed to return to class. The school day is continuing as normal,” YISD said.
