EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office said it’s aware of potentially fraudulent emails sent to subscribers of the county’s news portal that appear to be from the Clerk’s Office, and it’s monitoring the situation.
These emails appear to be part of a broader scam following a security incident involving the third-party vendor that operates the portal, and it has affected multiple clients, not just Doña Ana County, the County Clerk’s Office said in a news release.
The County is investigating the issue with the vendors’ IT team, and the County’s IT department is monitoring the situation closely, according to the news release.
The County Clerk’s Office said currently, there is no indication that subscriber information has been compromised. However, the County IT team recommends the following steps:
- Change any passwords associated with accounts used to access County communications.
- Do not click on links in emails sent from Omni Agent Solutions (DonaAnaCtyNM@public.govdelivery.com).
- Delete suspicious or unexpected emails, particularly those from unfamiliar or foreign sources.
“Your vigilance is appreciated as the county works with the vendor to ensure the security of the communications system,” read the news release.
