EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Incumbents in both the El Paso Community College and San Elizario Independent School District board races are in the early lead after early voting results were released at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.
EPCC has two seats up on its Board of Trustees, and San Elizario ISD has two contested races for its board.
El Paso Community College
Incumbent Jesus Mendez is leading Eduardo A. Flores, an EPCC employee, and Luther Marcena for the college’s Board of Trustees seat in District 4, according to early voting results.
Mendez is at 50.68 percent or 518 votes, followed by Flores at 35.32 percent or 361 votes, and Marcena is at 13.99 percent or 143 votes.
In District 6, Diana Mooy, an associate superintendent in Ysleta ISD, is in the early lead against Eduardo Mena, according to early results.
Mooy is leading with 58.73 percent or 609 votes, and Mena is behind at 41.27 percent or 428 votes.
San Elizario Independent School District
Over in San Elizario ISD, incumbent Axel Lopez is leading Asael Cardona for Place No. 2 on that district’s Board of Trustees, according to early results.
Lopez is at 64 percent or 64 votes, and Cardona is at 36 percent or 36 votes.
Alexis Ann Tellez is leading Michael Martinez for Place No. 3 in an open race, according to early results.
Tellez is leading with 50.98 percent or 52 votes, and Martinez is behind with 49.02 percent or 50 votes.
