EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A vehicle drove off Transmountain Road on Sunday afternoon, May 4 and the Fire Department is working to rescue a person, an El Paso Fire Department spokesperson said.
The call came in at 1:45 p.m. about a vehicle that went off the mountain at mile marker 19 on the Northeast side of the mountain, the Fire spokesperson said.
The Fire Department is at the scene, extricating a patient. The department’s helicopter has been requested.
Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are diverting traffic from the summit for FireSTAR to land near the Ron Coleman Trail parking lot, the Fire spokesperson said.
All eastbound lanes of traffic on Transmountain is closed at mile marker 19 and traffic is being diverted back westbound at mile marker 16, the Texas Department of Transportation said.
Clearing time is estimated to be an hour.
